I have been selling homes since 2008.

For nine years I owned RE/MAX Realtron Rashida Dhalla Realty in Toronto, where I was Broker of Record and did all of the marketing myself. When the franchise came up for renewal I decided not to sign another five years, because I am moving to Florida. Ten of my years in this business were spent in the States, buying, renovating and reselling houses, so I am going back to a market I already know.
In Toronto, after a decade buying, renovating and reselling houses in the US.
Nine years running my own brokerage, with my name on the trust account.
Every month, written from the board numbers.
English, Katchi, Gujrati and Urdu.
Somewhere with more people in it.

There is more room in this office than there are people in it.
There is a limit to how much one person can carry, and after 18 years of running the whole thing myself I have found mine.
I am looking for an in-person leadership role where the operational side of the business is the primary focus — operations, agent success, training, compliance, transaction oversight, and organizational growth. I have been doing all of it at once since 2008, and I would rather do less of it properly, with colleagues around me.
In an office, ideally. I am a U.S. citizen and need no sponsorship, and I can work remotely while the move to Florida happens, but most of what I am good at only really works in a room.
What I actually do.
With the evidence for each one underneath it.
Brokerage operations and compliance
For nine years I looked after the trust account, the compliance, the transaction processing, and the systems that hold all three together.
Leading teams and partners
I have managed people who reported to me, and coordinated five specialists at five other firms who did not.
Marketing and content
Six channels since 2008, all of it made by me, and four other businesses ended up paying to advertise on it.
Market analysis
Dated public calls since 2008, worked from the board numbers, including the November I said 6,500 and the answer came back 7,374.
Negotiation and client relations
Almost all of my business has come from referrals. Some of those clients are still with me twenty years on.

“Make your own footsteps in the snow instead of following the beaten track.”
Something I said in 2012 about what the fashion years taught me. I still think it is the only useful advice I have.
I have been publishing market calls since 2008.
All of it worked from the board numbers, including the November I called 6,500 sales and the answer came back 7,374.

2020 closed as the third-best year on record
95,000+ GTA home sales in 2020, average price near $930,000
Forty-nine offers on one house.
A power-of-sale house at St. Clair and Dufferin, listed at $233,000. Buyers were not allowed inside it. It drew over four hundred enquiries and forty-nine offers in a single day, one of them $122,000 above asking, and closed at $355,000 in ten days on the market.
The Globe and Mail ran it in Done Deals. I am the listing agent in it, which is the only reason I can put a number like that on a page and expect you to believe it.

Clients for twenty years, then their children.
Fifteen written references between 2014 and 2026. One is from the home inspector who works the other side of my files, and who has no reason to be kind about me.
“She coached us through our emotions and even dropped off food when we needed it.”
“Buyer, seller, landlord and tenant, and she ran all four the same way.”
“Rashida is not about closing deals. She is there for the client first and foremost.”
The things people usually ask.
What would you actually do on a Monday?
The operating side. Trust accounting and compliance, the transaction pipeline and the places it tends to stall, the standard everyone gets held to, and the marketing calendar. Those are four things I did at once for the nine years I ran my own brokerage, and none of them needs a new licence before I can start.
You run the marketing yourself?
All of it. Strategy, copy, graphics, video, calendar and publishing across email, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X, YouTube, print and direct mail, without a gap since 2008. Four other businesses held annual contracts to advertise on it through 2022.
What languages do you work in?
English, Katchi, Gujrati and Urdu, and well enough to run a negotiation in any of them. In a market as varied as Toronto that has repeatedly been the difference between knowing what somebody needs and guessing at it.
I answer my own phone, and I always have.
One of my clients mentioned in a review that I was still taking her questions four years after her sale closed, which I had not really thought of as unusual until I read it back.
